The short story written by Joyce Carol Oates leads the audience through the adult narrators splintered memories of being sexually abused by her uncle and subsequent disassociation. I wanted to convey the sense of unease and primal fear of that experience. While creating this film, if a scene made my skin crawl, I knew it was working.
