Blessed Margaret was born a blind, lame dwarf in Italy during the Middle Ages. Her aristocratic parents hid her in a cell for twenty years. When she was finally emancipated(her parents abandoned her) Blessed Margaret went on to lead a life of service to others, bringing meals and medicine to hospitals and prisons with love and cheerfulness. She could forsee the future and perform miracles. After her death at 33 years old, she was beatified by Pope Paul V. Margaret's life was an affirmation of life.Though severely handicapped and subjected to parental abuse, Margaret radiated love and uplifted the spirits of all who met her. Her life was devoted to service to others. Her life is an inspiration to all of us.
