A Documentary about Dumpster Diving. Two friends decide not to buy any things for 3 months. They find all their needs in dumpsters and trash cans.
SynopsisA documentary to examine the excessive waste in today's culture - an experiment in trash. Two people rent an unfurnished apartment, bringing with them only the clothes they were wearing and a flashlight. They decided not to buy any items for 3 months and instead, adopt a "freegan" lifestyle. All food, clothes, furniture and everything else was found discarded and perfectly fine in the trash. Many other scavengers were also identified, ranging from students to doctors to artists. It seems "dumpster diving" is more common place than was first thought.
Director's StatementWe hoped, in the creation of this film, to show that dumpster diving is a viable option that anyone can partake in to any degree in their lives. The goal of this film is not to convince you to immediately stop buying things, but to show that finding your needs is always an option. Whether it is food, clothing, electronics, art materials, etc. it's all out there. It's all free and it's all going to be buried in the ground. This film shows that wherever you are, you can poke, wade or dive right in.
