Colette Miquelot runs a small clothing shop in a small town in Provence. Her studio is in a former schoolhouse located in an even smaller town. During the course of the film we follow Colette through the many stages of piecing together a revealing and difficult design. Interwoven are scenes of her working in her shop, interacting and having fun with clients, bicycling through Nimes to select fabric, and finally staging a fashion show with an antiques market serving as the background.

Director's Statement:

On one of his many cycling trips throughout France, Tom came across Colette's quaint shop in the town of Barjac. After several seasons of shopping there for my annual birthday gift, we convinced Colette to allow us to document her "wearable art" atelier and shop. "Legs to the Neck" was the beginning of our collaboration in the series of 26 minute French docs. This one had an immediate success and was screened on all the United flights to Paris and Brussels for the three Summer months of 2001.
