Luna and the Moon
7 minutes Foreign / Gay & Lesbian
How can a young transgender woman find love in the streets of Kings Cross, when she can’t find any beauty in herself?
Intended Audience: Mature
Luna is a quiet, transgendered woman who works at a bar in Kings Cross and lives in a small apartment with ex-street girl, Kelly.
In the middle of a harsh world, where men are repulsed by her and loud mouthed queens mock her, Luna is stunned one night to encounter James, a friendly and attractive man, who treats her with respect and charm.
Full of self-doubt, Luna tests this amiable stranger’s attention and in doing so, places them both in danger.
LUNA AND THE MOON is a whimsical and unusual tale of love caught in the spinning orbit of fate.

“Luna and the Moon” is the second short film completed under the banner of Playback Entertainment.
The project has had an unusually blessed existence, from the concept stage when it was accepted as part of the Raw Nerve scheme it was flown into production, and into the edit suites.
Of particular note is the extremely talented musical outfit CODA, who took this project on as their first original film soundtrack. The dedication and amazing talent of this group left us in awe, and channelled the emotional complexities of the film into a powerful direction. They will be in hot demand for soundtracks in the future.
Overall, the experience of putting together “Luna and the Moon” has been an energising one preparing all of us to tackle bigger and better projects in the future.
