A young landscaper from Martha's Vineyard struggles to maintain his lifestyle and relationships after he and his girlfriend are offered an unexpected music recording contract in Los Angeles.

Synopsis

Mow Crew follows island native Eric Campbell through his last day of work as a landscaper on Martha's Vineyard. As he battles with a competing landscaping crew, trains his disaster prone replacement, and revisits a woman from his past, he begins to get cold feet about leaving his job and leaving the island. Meanwhile his girlfriend and band mate Sage who is thrilled to be leaving the island with Eric to pursue a career in music, begins to realize he may be secretly sabotaging her dream. Filled with original music, Mow Crew is a comedy about relationships and what it takes to stay together.

"A carefully conceived and beautifully shot film, Mow Crew certainly has twists you don't expect: indie nudity, for example, alongside healthy doses of sexuality..." -David Day, The Boston Weekly Dig

"Might scream Mumblecore, but Toole's feature length debut seems informed by an authentically personal vision." - Jason Gargano, Cincinnati CityBeat

“Mr. Toole gets credit for unabashedly depicting the darker side of Island life. Dysfunctional families, dysfunctional relationships, substance abuse, “Island psychology,” and other less-than-idyllic elements of Vineyard society have intrinsic influence on the characters’ lives and choices. These grittier elements are treated with an understated everyday-ness that reflects, again, what it’s really like to live here for a lot of people, both natives and wash-ashores. The movie (being a comedy) is not about these darker elements; it just acknowledges that you can’t really show life on the Vineyard without showing the parts the tourism board really doesn’t want anyone to see.” -Nicole Galland, The Vineyard Gazette
