Peroxide Passion
84 minutes Comedy / IndieFlix Official Selections
Two desperate dreamers pursue their fantasy loves to Salt Lake.
Intended Audience: Mature
Jersey City Jed gets jilted by debutante Ashley at the altar and goes home to kill himself when he's interrupted by blond bombshell Mimi, a telephone sex-therapist & lyricist who's desperate to get her songs to Johnny Pompano Jr., a crooner making a comeback with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a few days' time. Ashley, it turns out, has fled to Salt Lake with a humpy Mormon, Steve, and dares Jed to follow presumably to rescue her.
Jed and Mimi pursue their passions with roommate Johnny who's also desperate - to get into Mimi's pants - and the three set out for Salt Lake and adventure.
Aside from some wonderful appearances at over 20 film festivals around the world, "Peroxide Passion" is a long time coming to the public. It has finally made it to market because of a funny script by the talented David Atkins, but mostly due to the performances. It is a hard thing to make a comedy on a small budget. Much harder than drama. So the uniqueness of the casting (Ellen Parks) and the excellence of the performances by James Tupper, Lorri Bagley (each of whom won awards for their performances) Aasif Mandvi, and a talented group of others have created this happy result for all concerned.
