Real Fiction
20 minutes
A struggling novelist’s career and family become entangled in deceit and tragedy when he begins leading a dangerous secret life.
Intended Audience: Mature
Zach, a gifted writer and devoted son is as ambitious as he is impatient. Success in his business seems impossibly elusive after trying every avenue available to him, and without adequate funds to provide treatment for his increasingly ill mother, it seems like a miracle when Damien, an influential literary agent, expresses interest in taking Zach on as a client. However, there's a catch...
As Damien guides Zach ever closer to monetary and career success, Zach’s relationship with AJ begins to deteriorate while conversely, Damien not only begins to realize the error of his ways, but learns from Zach the ability to love again.
Yet in a world where nothing is what it seems, and in an industry where all actions are relative to their context, the incendiary mixture of jealousy, desperation and love can sometimes prove lethal.

Amazing film which chronicles the emotional rise and fall of a young artist as he struggles to break into the publishing industry. Don't miss the riveting climax as the paths of all those involved in Zach's life eventually, and inevitably, collide. An outstanding debut!
wonderful film!; superb script by budding screenwriter/director of a young man's struggle to succeed in a tough industry; sensitively acted with great authenticity under the guidance of director, Nick Lam. Nick Lam is a talent to watch!
terrific coming-of-age story. kept me intrigued from beginning to end. great plot and excellent acting. look forward to more films from what appears to be a budding writer/director.
Fantastic! The plot is excellent and the film captures the emotional essence of it's characters in a fluid way. A wonderful debut film from rookie director, Nick Lam!
The writer/director has captured the essence of a classic Hollywood tale of ambition and self-betrayal. It's beautifully shot and lovingly constructed. Though this story revolves around the sexual exploitation within the context of a same sex relationship, the themes are at once intensely personal and universal. Anyone whose ever wanted to show and express themselves to the world has an artist, can relate. Mr. Lam has demonstrated himself to be part of a new generation of filmmakers able to deliver well-crafted stories that paint a clear world with a definite point of view, while being accessible. We can already see the signs of a master of tone, through his great artistic choices. I look forward to seeing what else this filmmaker will bring us in the future.
Poignant and moving, the film explores the intricacies between the boundaries of love and the quest to succeed in life. Universally relatable and devastatingly powerful, this is a great little film that clearly was directed with temperance, decisiveness and sensitivity.

i googled the director and found that he has a lot of other work online! great stuff!
This film won't play.
