This was a dream I had when I was a kid.

Synopsis

This was a dream I had when I was a kid. It is an example of how the subconscience deals with experience and consequence.

Director's Statement

Stabbing the Donkey is the first in a series of animations based on autobiographical content. It reveals the agony of peer pressure and violence when interpreted on a subconscious level.

I am primarily a painter who learned photography by shooting slides of my work. I liked the photo aspect of my work so much that I decided to incorporate the two mediums: paint and photography. Most people would refer to my work as collage, but I prefer to think of it as mixed media.

My love of film, (I always wanted to be a film maker but production is too complicated and expensive to deal with) led me to learn programs such as Flash and After Effects. I am an Associate Professor at Pratt Institute, so I have easy access to these programs. I am virtually a self-taught digital animator. The result: my paintings are now electronic collages that move and convey simple stories.
