A documentary crew films the final week of a woman's life leading up to her suicide.
SynopsisWhen Helen, an elderly woman, approaches documentary film maker Nate to make a film about her, he asks why. "Because I'm going to kill myself next Saturday," she states. So begins the making of a documentary like no other. As Nate and his producing partner Hilary struggle with their decision of whether or not to stop Helen, we see the film-within-the-film as Helen explains her reasons. As we build to that fateful day the film makers struggle with emotion, tension and morality. Will Helen go through with it? And if she does, will they film it?
Director's StatementMy film is an odd length, I know. I wanted to make something that I could do for the money I had available and yet still feel like it has a substantial beginning, middle and end. I have been extremely humbled by the response I have gotten each and every time I screen the film. People come away with some strong feelings, many times there are tears but always a deep respect for the actors and the writing. I didn't set out to make any big statement with the film and I hope it leaves it open enough to draw your own conclusions and even if you disagree with the character's actions that is fine with me. Mostly I hope you find it a fulfilling viewing experience that is just as satisfying as a feature length production with 100 times the budget. My belief is that a good story is the most important thing. I am grateful to the cast and crew who worked for peanuts and created a work the we are all very proud of.

Independent production. Self-financed. Featuring Kathryn Joosten (The West Wing, Desperate Housewives *Emmy winner*) The film played to enthusiastic festival crowds as well as screenings on college campus where it was always met with a spirited discussion afterwards. The issues raised in the film always seem to spark some serious debate. I hope you enjoy the film as entertainment and also have something to discuss.
