The mistakes of the past are exposed during the last moments of a couple’s relationship, pushing them to a painful present and an inevitable remorseful future that will change their lives forever.
SynopsisLance and Mina live a happy life together filled with romance, seduction, and irreplaceable memories. Like any young couple, Lance and Mina share the friendship of their best friend Joe. However, during their moments together, Joe falls in love for Mina and a secret love triangle arises. Lance grows suspicious and his jealousy drives Mina insane. As the original magic that brought them together goes away, the relationship falls apart, and Mina leaves Lance in a matter of desperation. The relationship is left without an absolution, and Lance’s fears for an inevitable lonely future strike his present. Time passes, and Lance never sees or hears from Mina again. Between his loving memories with her and the painful reality that confronts him, his pain grows and becomes overwhelming. Now, between his daydreaming fantasies with Mina and his new relationship with Jessica, a woman he likes but doesn’t love, he will have to choose either staying attached to Mina or moving on in life with his new girlfriend.
Director's StatementThe production team and I originally decided we wanted to make a music video on Ranah Viuda’s new song, “Creer sin Ver” which translates to “Believing without Seeing.” Therefore, I developed a very visual story between two people who love each other, but the odds of certain circumstances drive them apart. I knew it wasn’t exactly what the song was really trying to convey and that this kind of story has been told throughout the years over and over in feature films and many books. I knew it wasn’t an original story from the beginning of the process; yet, it was the purpose for which it was told that captivated my attention. When one watches Romeo and Juliet or Tristan and Isolde, one always talks about how cruel circumstances and other people were to these characters. But one almost never talks about the wrong of what and whom they chose to believe in, and the decisions eventually taken based on this belief. I could see between the lines of Ranah Viuda’s lyrics an audience craving for this story.
A story told through a third pair of eyes that could clearly distinguish the mistakes made by each character. I wanted to show how as human beings our egos and self-centered personalities, which often lead to arrogance, make the forgivable and non-important simply unforgivable and crucial in our love relationships. We keep forgetting we are not gods and we all fall sooner or later into the consequences of our own mistakes. We are always so busy trying to pick on everybody’s dark side that we forget how disappointing we really look when seen through somebody else’s perspective. It was my mission to tell this story with the sole purpose of highlighting this aspect of the human condition.
Thus, as the pre-production of the music video progressed, we all agreed the story was too complex to be told only in the four minutes and a half of “Creer Sin Ver.” Rene Fornari, the executive producer, Terence J. Lee, the producer, and I then decided we were better off by making a complete and more marketable product which would involve “The Tainted Touch”, a twenty-minute narrative short film and it’s four-minute and a half music video “Creer Sin Ver.” We are proud to present both “The Tainted Touch” and “Creer Sin Ver” as two different shows produced by one same creative team. Thank you all for your support, and I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them. After all, it is the audience who make this medium so powerful and joyful to explore!
