The Trident, one of the first films shot on the new 4K Digital format, gives a glimpse into rarely seen martial arts from the Indian sub-continent, such as Kalaripayattu and Malla-Yudha. In addition to being a short film that stands on its own, The Trident is a technical showpiece for state-of-the-art 4K Digital technology and a proof-of-concept for a feature film the filmmakers are preparing to produce.
Technical Notes
• The Trident is one of the first projects to be shot (uncompressed) and posted on state-of-the art 4K digital technology (4096 x 2160 x 24 fps). 4K offers 4 times the resolution of 2K, which was used on recent digital productions such as the Star Wars prequels, Superman Returns and Apocalypto.
• Camera: Dalsa Origin (4K digital); recorded to a Codex Digital recorder
• Post-production completed in full 4K at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging
