Zombie Abomination - The Italian Zombie Movie Part 1
103 minutes | 17 or older | 2009 |
United States of America
Comedies / Cult / Horror / Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Over-the-top homage to and parody of European horror films from the 1980s.
SynopsisWhen a massive human experiment goes awry, a brave soldier, a beautiful psychic, a sexy succubus, her oafish boyfriend, two alleged "spacemen" and the always intriguing Michigan Militia unwittingly combine forces against a Landfill of the Living Dead!
The dead are back - for a snack! "Zombie Abomination - The Italian Zombie Movie Part 1" is a fast-paced, funny (and sometimes ridiculously gross) homage to and parody of European horror films of the 1980's. A zom-b-movie, made entirely without the restrictions of a budget, "Zombie Abomination" is the first horror/sci-fi/comedy to make fun of the lurid sexism that runs rampant in the European horror films of that era. Fast-paced, with more plots than a cemetery, "Zombie Abomination" is filled with JAW-DROPPING dialogue, CHUNK-BLOWING grossouts and GUT-BUSTING laughs. Now you can see Part 1 of this critically-acclaimed miniseries (that has been pleasing genre festival audiences and reviewers since 2009) as a video download to rent or to own! Includes a PREVIEW of Part 2!
Director's StatementZombie Abomination - The Italian Zombie Movie Part 1 is the first part of a two-part, no-budget miniseries celebrating the sexism and surreal plots of European horror movies, and especially Italian zombie movies, of the 1980s. A combination of homage and parody, it was made entirely by fans of the genre, who volunteered all of their time and efforts. Both Parts 1 & 2 were Official Selections of Tromadance Indiana 2009, Scarefest 2009 and the Drunken Zombie Film Festival 2009!

"Zombie Abomination and Zombie Atrocity deliver the goods... In my opinion, no horror fan, or zombie fanatic for that matter, should go without watching these. Verdict: 10/10" - James Burden, Horror Movie Central
"Makes fun of, and fun out of, those Italian horror flicks." - Cynthia Price, The Norton-Lakeshore Examiner
"It has a lot of genuinely funny moments where I was laughing!" - Corey Graham, The Midnight Podcast, www.midnightpodcast.com
"It's over-the-top in the fashion of early Sam Raimi in his 'Evil Dead' period." - Bill Iddings, The Muskegon Chronicle - Extra Iddings, www.mlive.com

"...a cinematic tour-de-force produced and filmed by some of the most twisted, demented and sarcastic people imaginable. The people who dreamed up and acted out "The Italian Zombie Movie: Part I: Zombie Abomination," are some really strange and weird dudes and dudettes, and I mean that in a good way. This is a movie that asks how many varieties and forms of sarcasm are there and the first 100 minutes of Part I take a person through a macabre, surreal journey into this madness... In short, Part I of the "The Italian Zombie Movie," whetted my insatiable curiosity and left me both perplexed, overwhelmed and craving more mayhem, humor and deviant sensations." - Terrance Aldridge, Independent Journalist/Visual Artist, Reviewer at Summer Tromadance 2009, www.stand-theatre-shelbyville.org
"It was a fun ride I'm sure all zombie lovin' Cinema Wasteland fans will enjoy." - Ken Kish, Cinema Wasteland, www.cinemawasteland.com
Everyone associated with these movies is basically a first-timer.
The crew consisted of Thomas Berdinski (the writer, director, producer, editor, composer, director of photography, sound and lightning designer and occasional bartender), Jill Mikesell (the script supervisor, assistant director and production assistant) and Joseph Tardani (the special effects and make-up effects designer, assistant cameraman and lead zombie in most scenes).
The cast came from a wide variety of backgrounds, but most had only acted in Berdinski's short films until this project. Jeff Bromley, who plays Bruno Deodato, is a former Navy Seal with a number of short films to his credit. Laurie Beckeman plays Maria the Succubus, and has some local TV (and possibly adult film) experience. LaShelle Mikesell plays Katriona. This is her first feature film although she appeared in many of Berdinski's short films in high school. Dan Grams plays Ruggerro. He also appeared in some of Berdinski's short films and built the miniatures in these flicks. Chuck Alderink and Keith Zahn (“the militia guys”) perform in local bands and have appeared in a music video Berdinski directed and produced. Myron Erickson and Terry Madden (“the aliens”) have modeling and local ballet experience, respectively. John Mikesell (Dr. Falluci) has written, directed and appeared in several short films with Berdinski. Sonya Hernandez (Asia the Spy) is a beauty pageant winner and an experienced theater actress appearing in many local productions. This is Jill Mikesell, Dale Ehinger, Caitria Mikesell, Kathy Price and Christy Mack's first feature film experience. Many of the zombies were played Joseph Tardani, his brother Jim Tardani (both Italian, by the way) and by high school friends of director's nephew Josh Halberda. Josh also performed in the band “Insubordination” which wrote some of the music in the films.
