Geena Matuson
I’m a writer, artist, model/actor and current Film/Video undergraduate at MassArt in Boston, MA. “In all areas of my work, I place a strong focus on dreams and surreality. I play with perception, psychology and words themselves. I want viewers to question the reality presented to them, perhaps confusing and even angering them in the process. I pose unanswered questions, allowing viewers to gather their own meaning and inform the work for themselves.” Recurring themes in my work include duality, animals, the act of running, masks, light vs. dark (contrast and shadows), the question of reality (surreality), and commentary on society/social structure. I like to document everything; the ability to see the growth of an artist over time fascinates me. I try to compile my work in a way for you to see this, as well. Online, you can find selections of my illustrations, photography (documentations), events my work has featured in, and my film/video work. However, the bulk of my writing is not yet available online. (Geena Matuson is pronounced match-a-son or madison)
