Bittersweet Paradise

When a pregnant Nixie gets into a scuffle with a pair of talking squirrels, she hires a mysterious pest exterminator to outsmart them. He casts a spell on the orange tree where the squirrels routinely ravage Nixie's fruit. When the greedy rodents return, they, suddenly, find themselves stuck on the tree. Terrified, they promise Nixie they will never return if she lets them go. She utters the magic words that set them free. All seems ordinary, when Death, suddenly, appears in Nixie's garden. His message-- it's her time to die. He must take her away. Nixie resists. She wants to give birth to her child. She can't fend Death away, but she's clever. She asks him for a last taste of life-- An orange. Death agrees to pluck it for her. He scales the orange tree, oblivious to the magic spell. He gets stuck. Nixie lives.
