Synopsis

"Fields of Mudan" is a story about Mudan, a young Asian girl forced into modern day slavery by the brutal child brothel owner, Madam Zhao. Mudan is initially frightened, and finds solace only through the memory of her mother and a promise that her mother would one day find her and take her away with her to America. Despite Mudan's hostile surroundings, she finds sympathy, compassion, and finally friendship from another girl in the brothel, Faye. Proceeds from this film support the Florida State University Film program. It's a VERY moving film. I believe it was short listed for Oscar consideration. The back story behind the making of this film is as good as the film itself. The Asian community tried to stop the filming of this project.
